US President George W. Bush will visit Germany on Feb. 23 and meet with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, German government said Tuesday.

"The German government is delighted about the US president's visit," government spokesman Bela Anda said in Berlin.

Analyst said Bush's visit will further improve bilateral relations hurt by the Iraqi war. Germany was one of the leading opponents of the Iraq war in March 2003 along with France and Russia.

"We also welcome that President Bush will meet NATO and EU leaders one day before that in Brussels," Anda said.

Anda said the venue of Bush's visit to Germany had not yet been decided.

Bush's only previous visit to Germany dates back to May 2002.
