Spain arrests three Suspected Moroccan militants

Three Moroccans accused of trying to buy explosives were arrested early on Wednesday in a crackdown operation in Spain's Barcelona area, the government said.

A statement from the Interior Ministry said all the three detainees are suspected of links to international terrorism networks.

About 100 police officers raided their homes and two other buildings where documents were seized.

The Interior Ministry identified the three Moroccans as Majid Bakkali, Mohamed Douha and Abdelkader Farhaoui.

The ministry said Spain had get information about their activities from foreign intelligence before the operation.

The crackdown operation is widely seen as part of stepped up security measures to guard against any attacks over Christmas in the aftermath of the March 11 Madrid train bombings which killed 191 people.
