font size

US has begun to grown high oil corn developed by China. This has been made possible by an agreement of tech transfer in 2004 between a US company QTI and China Agriculture University. The corn has also extended to Chile and Argentina.

High oil corn is one of the items in the program of Research on Technical Breakthroughs of Agricultural Restructuring which was launched in 2002 and focused on 15 fields such as high quality rice, corn, wheat, etc.It is regarded as another important achievement in the agricultural technologies following the hybrid rice.

For the three years 141 projects have been identified for the program. 60 million yuan has been funded by the government.

Up until now 99 new varieties which have been approved and proved to be competitive on the world market have been bred and 423 new germplasms with good quality have been developed.
