Yushchenko's supporters rally in Kiev's central square

Tens of thousands of supporters of Ukraine's presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko gathered Wednesday evening in the capital's Independence Square to demonstrate their determination to win the upcoming Dec. 26 revote of presidential run-off.

Yushchenko, who seems to be a favorite in the Sunday rematch, urged the crowd to vote.

"All of us should go to the voting stations on Dec. 26," the opposition leader told the crowd, who came here to remark the one-month of the "orange revolution".

"Each citizen must take part in the vote so that the result is totally convincing," said Yushchenko.

"Each vote will help maintain Ukraine's unity."

He in the mean time warned that the weekend vote would not be an"easy political walk."

"There are some forces preparing to disrupt and they are preparing brigades, groups who are readying to come to Kiev," Yushchenko said.

However, he did not identify who the forces were.

Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, Yushchenko's rival, who continues his pre-election marathon in the country's eastern regions, on Wednesday told Ukrainian journalists in Poltava region that he feared possible bloodshed at the Dec. 26 poll.

The Dec. 26 rematch will take place after the Supreme Court annulled the official results of Nov. 21 run-off, citing mass fraud,and stripped Yanukovych's victory.
