Chinese stock exchanges announce 2005 holidays

Shanghai Stock Exchange announced Thursday its scheduled days off for 2005 in notice released by China Securities Regulatory Commission.

According to the announcement, the exchange will close from January 1 to 3, Feb. 7 to 15, May 1 to 8, and Oct. 1 to 9 to celebrate the New Year holiday, the traditional Spring Festival, the Labor's day holiday and the National Day holiday.

Trading will be resumed immediately after the four scheduled breaks.

Securities-related liquidation will be handled according to arrangement of China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited.

The exchange will check its trading systems from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. on February 15, May 8 and October 9.

Shenzhen Stock Exchange will follow the same holiday schedule, according to the announcement.
