Visiting Foreign Minister Hoshiar Al-Zibari of the Iraqi Interim Government said Thursday in Beijing that the country will further develop its friendly cooperation with China.
Iraq appreciated China's support for and sympathy with its government and people and will further its friendly relations with China, said Al-Zibari at a meeting with Zhang Zhijun, deputy head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Al-Zibari is here for a four-day visit to China. During his stay, Al-Zibari will meet with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.
During the meeting, Al-Zibari stressed the Iraqi government will firmly adhere to the one-China policy and support China's reunification cause.
Zhang said the Communist Party of China is willing to establish and develop its relations with political parties of Iraq and play an active role in promoting the Sino-Iraqi relationship.
He expressed the hope that Iraq will restore social stability, its general election will be held as scheduled and the Iraqi people may live a happy life at an early date.
