China hopes to have effective energy cooperation with Russia

China appreciates Russia's attitude towards energy cooperation with China, and hopes to carryout effective energy cooperation with Russia, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao in Beijing Thursday.

Liu made the remarks at a regular press conference when asked about a comment made by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A foreign journalist said that Putin said oil companies in Russia and China may strengthen cooperation during his recent German tour.

According to Liu, President Putin has said time and again that Russia attached importance to its energy cooperation with China and Russia's decision to strengthen strategic cooperation with China in energy area remained unchanged.
