Car bomb kills five near Najaf
font size

Five Iraqis were killed on Saturday in a car bomb attack in Khan al-Nus area between the two Shiite holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, chief of police in Najaf said.

The police chief said all the victims were civilians, although the target appeared to be a US military convoy.

No further details were available about the incident.

Both Karbala and Najaf were the scene of the latest double car bombings that killed more than 60 people and wounded some 200 others on Dec. 19, the bloodiest attack since July.
