China's new generation of central equipment for Internetcore router, built on the basis of G6 TCP, passed the technical appraisal yesterday at the Information Engineering College of the PLA Information Engineering University. The appraisal committee held that: the overall technology of the system has reached domestic leading level and international advanced level. It is a first set of high-performance router that China owns independent intellectual property rights over its core technologies and is of great significance towards the national information network security.
In 2002, the Ministry of Science and Technology decided to include the research of high-performance core router into the 863 Hi-Tech Program of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" of the country and invited tenders throughout the country, and the Information Engineering College of the PLA Information Engineering University won the tender at the first try. For the following two years, the college organized over 200 sci-tech personnel to brainstorm key technical problems. At last, they made breakthroughs in key technologies, and enabled the college to become the leader in China in independent research and development of key technologies and core chips for big-capacity high-speed router. Presently, the router is working steadily on military and civilian demonstrative network.
