The production and sales volumes of commercial cars by Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company have topped 200,000 in 2004 for the first time in history with that of heavy-duty truck exceeding 100,000, achieving an unprecedented development.
To everybody's delight, the authoritative report jointly released by International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, known as Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs D'automobiles (OICA), and the German Association of the Automobile Industry, known as Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA), pointed out that tremendous changes have taken place in the industrial setup of the heavy duty trucks in the world, and Dongfeng Motor Corp ranked the second, only next to Daimler-Chrysler Auto Company, among world's top 10 heavy duty truck producers due to the sharp increase in the company's production and sales volumes.
According to Tong Dongcheng, vice manager of Dongfeng Motor Corp, vice president of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd, and general manager of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company, since its partnership with Dongfeng Nissan Motor Co., Ltd a year ago, Dongfeng Commercial Motor Company has established new systems involving organizational framework, marketing system, purchasing system, financial analytical methods, values, and evaluation standards with a great deal of advanced management method and concept, particularly the improvement activities of QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery), achieving distinct improvement and economic results.
In the first 11 months of this year, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company has sold 187,408, fulfilling 100.1 per cent of the year's target, up 20.82 per cent from last year. Among all these motors sales, the sales volume of heavy-duty trucks is 103,680, fulfilling 109.4 per cent of the annual target, up 36.48 per cent from last year. The sales volume for medium-sized trucks was 50,585, fulfilling 100.5 per cent of the annual target, and that of buses was 26,591, 98.49 per cent of the annual target, up 30.29 per cent from last year.
It is estimated that annual sales volume for Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company is expected to top 200,000, or 106.8 per cent of the planned target, up 18.69 per cent from last year. And the sales income reached 32.1 billion yuan or 3.88 US dollars, an increase of 20.22 per cent if compared with the planned target, up 32.22 per cent from last year. The pretax profits are enough for the planned target of 1.227 billion yuan, 21.9 per cent higher than that in the same period last year, laying a solid foundation for Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company's goal of "striving for the best in China and top three in the world".
