Senior military officer meets with Indian guestChina is willing to make concerted efforts with India to promote friendly cooperation between the two armies, said Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of the general staff of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Beijing on December 27. Xiong made the remarks during talks with Chief of the Army Staff of India N.C. Vij. The two sides exchanged views on issues concerned with international and regional situation, bilateral relations between the two countries and armies, and other issues of common concern. Xiong said Chinese and Indian armies, with constant development of the Sino-Indian ties, had further strengthened their relations,and the Chinese side would continue to enhance relations with Indian army, in line with the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries. Vij said India attached great importance to developing relations with China, and Indian-Chinese friendship was conducive for maintaining peace and stability in the region and in the world at large. Vij expressed his hope that the two countries and the two armies would increase exchanges and cooperation in various fields and levels, in a bid to lift bilateral ties into a new high.
