Secretary General of the Arab League(AL) Amr Moussa on Wednesday asked both the Americans and the Arabsto undertake measures to achieve "strong" bilateral relations,Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.
The current Arab-US relations did not serve the interests ofeither side, Moussa was quoted as saying at the inaugural sessionof the annual conference of the Egyptian Council for ForeignAffairs.
He called on the Arabs to introduce "real" reforms to changetheir image in the eyes of the Americans, while stressing the needfor the United States to shore up its reputation in the Arab world. He also said the US should listen to the voices of the moderateArabs, otherwise it would have to deal with extremists of theregion.
It was high time the United States should leave the "station ofthe 9/11" and stop dealing with the Middle East region on thatbasis, urged Moussa.
He was referring to the terrorist attacks on the United Stateson Sept. 11, 2001, which prompted the Americans and its allies tolaunch a global anti-terror campaign.
The AL chief also underlined the need to have a strategic Arab-US dialogue to reach an agreement on measures to be carried out toboost Arab-US relations.
