Hong Kong Police arrested five drug traffickers on Thursday morning in an operation aimed at curbing psychotropic drug abuse in entertainment centers during the festive season.
According to the Hong Kong government, Yau Tsim District Crime Headquarters officers launched the operation in November, identifying drug traffickers with triad backgrounds.
The police arrested five men, aged 19 to 24 and seized psychotropic drugs including 582 ecstasy pills and 166 packets of ketamine valued at about 80,000 Hong Kong dollars (10,300 US dollars).
The operation is ongoing and the five are being detained for further investigation, the government said.
