The 2005 New Year concert was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on December 31, 2004 in the evening, with attendance by senior party and government leaders including Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong and Li Changchun.

Chinese and foreign artists performed classics and folk music to an audience of more than 6,000 people from different circles.

Also present were senior Chinese officials Liu Qi, Liu Yunshan, Zhou Yongkang, Hua Jianmin, Chen Zhili and Peng Peiyun.
