In 2004, the Taiwan authority has doubled its efforts in pushing ahead its "Evolving Taiwan Independence", striking up a new wave for "Taiwan Independence" in the educational field. Chen Shui-bian harangued profusely about his "one side one country", "Taiwan main-body consciousness" and "de-China", etc while the cultural and educational authority in Taiwan followed up with the "Cultural Taiwan Independence" from the quantitative change to qualitative change. This has roused strong protests from all walks of life in the Island and so the year of 2004 featured the louder opposition and resistance to Chen Shui-bian's "Cultural Taiwan Independence" in the Taiwan Island.

Louder harangue for "Cultural Taiwan Independence"

By doing so Chen Shui-bian attempted to make his interpretation of the history and culture of the Taiwan Island so as to influence the generation to come with a sinister purpose to realize his so-called "cultural process for the establishment of a new country".

In the election campaign for "legislative committee" in the Island by the end of the year Chen Shui-bian fouled that "The country's history is the Taiwan history. China is a foreign country. We must first get to know the Taiwan history before getting to know the foreign history" in an attempt to mould out the "Nationals for Taiwan Independence" with a "History of Taiwan Independence".

Taiwan authority worked hard for "Taiwan Independence in education"

The education has always been a main field for the Taiwan authority to hawk its "de-China" fallacy, fabricate a history and a culture for "Taiwan Independence". In 2004, the henchmen appointed by Chen Shui-bian in the educational field have put forward a series of "de-China" policies, bringing substantially the "Cultural Taiwan Independence" carefully designed by Chen Shui-bian to the forefront.

In the middle of October, they shouted that later on the examination for public functionaries would examine only the "history and geography of this country of Taiwan and no more exam of the mainland." And the president of "Examination Yuan" even went so far as to say: "Sun Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen) is a foreigner."

And then no more than one month afterwards, the Taiwan Educational Authority openly put forward again in the newly published draft-program of the history for Taiwan high-school students that the history of Taiwan would be taken out from the Chinese history, putting the history of the Republic of China created by Dr Sun Yat-sen into that of the "Chinese history" and the history before the modern history into that of the "World history" and so on and so forth.

Public opinion criticized the Taiwan authority of forgetting their origin.

The words and deeds for "Cultural Taiwan Independence" peddled by Chen Shui-bian and his followers have roused wave upon wave denunciations from all circles in the Island, criticizing them as giving all the historical facts except those of their own ancestors. They would get in nothing more than disaster for Taiwan by using the conception of "Taiwan Independence" to distort history.

Teachers and students at the forefront of education conducted activities of joint signing, protesting against the government deleting and changing the contents of the classical writings in the course of Chinese teaching. Through the media a certain high school teacher denounced strongly that the political authority cutting apart the history according to their own ideology, revising the history would finally entail upon themselves the curses from the generations to come. A high school teacher expressed, the authority wanted us once and again to "draw a demarcation line" with the mainland. Didn't this mean that we emerged out from emptiness or void. Didn't it mean that we had to read the "Dream of Red Mansions" as "foreign literature"?

The year of 2004 witnessed a new and high alertness against the "Cultural Taiwan Independence" whipped up by Chen Shui-bian and his followers in the Island. Chen Shui-bian would continue to push all roundly forward the "Cultural Taiwan Independence" in all such aspects as spoken language, textbooks, cultural construction and drama as well, warned a scholar. It is hoped that the cultural and learning circles would adhere to the real truth, resist consciously the further recognition of the cultural structure for "Taiwan Independence". The Taiwan media pointed out, the authority for "Taiwan Independence" wished to turn around the axis of history and culture by using the political powers in hand yet the actual history couldn't be covered up and the umbilical cord relation between the Taiwan Island and the motherland in history can never be separated.
