Chinese President Hu Jintao on Saturday offered condolences to his Argentine counterpart Nestor Kirchner over the fire tragedy that killed 175 people in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires.

In his message, Hu offered condolences to the victims and their families on behalf of the Chinese government and people.

At least 175 died and 889 were injured in a fire that broke out during a rock concert in a night club in Buenos Aires Thursday night.

The Buenos Aires government decreed Friday three days of mourning for the victims of the fire.
