Hong Kong Observatory records severe earthquake

Hong Kong Observatory recorded Saturday afternoon a severe earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale over the seas west of northern Sumatra, Indonesia.

The earthquake was recorded at 2:32 p.m. Saturday. The epicenter was initially determined to be over the seas west of northern Sumatra, Indonesia, about 350 kilometers west of Banda Aceh, Sumatra.
