Thai death toll from tsunamis rises to 4,993

The death toll of last Sunday's tsunami attack on Thailand's southern coastlines has risen to 4,993, with 8,457 injured and 3,810 missing, the Interior Ministry said.

In Phang-nga alone, the ministry said, the death toll stood at 3,950, including 2,210 foreigners, with 5,597 injured and 985 still missing.
