Shanghai Baosteel Group --
Yearly output tops 20 million tons.
News from Shanghai Baosteel Group says that the China's largest steel company turned out 21.38 tons of steel in 2004 becoming the first steel company in China capable of an annual production of more than 20 million tons.
As learned its yearly revenue in 2004 is expected to exceed 160 billion yuan. In 2003 Baosteel was listed for the first time as world top 500 by the Fortune magazine with annual revenue of 120.4 billion yuan ($14.548). It ranks the 372nd. Baosteel, together with the SAIC (Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation) became China��s first manufacturing companies of perfect competition to be listed on World Top 500.
Gezhou Dam Power Plant --
Yearly power generation of nearly 17 billion kilowatt-hour
Until December 29, 2004 Gezhou Dam Power Plant had generated 16.965 billion kilowatt-hour of electricity in 2004, which more than fulfilled the annual plan of 15.4 billion kilowatt-hour and set up a new record in its 24 years of history since first put to production. Since 1981 when the first unit was put to operation Gezhou Dam Power Plant has generated 312.33 billion kilowatt-hour of electricity.
Since the water sources were distributed evenly in the upstream of the Yangtze River in 2004 and because of the coordinated operation of the Three Gorges-Gezhou Dam water control project, water resource utilization rate of the Gezhou Dam power station was effectively raised. In 2004 Gezhou Dam Power Plant carried out more than 30 technological transformation projects, which greatly increased the reliability and stability of the equipment.
Sewage treatment rate in Tianjin --
Increased from 43 percent to 70 percent.
After two years of intense construction Tianjin Jizhuangzi Sewage Treatment Plant Expansion Project and Xianyanglu Sewage Treatment Plant, which cost a total of 1.71 billion yuan, had been completed on December 30, 2004. They have acquired conditions for flowing waters and begun test operation.
So far Tianjin's sewage treatment capability has increased from past 660,000 tons each day to now 1.39 million tons. Its actual daily treatment can reach as much as 920,000 tons and treatment rate has increased from past 43 percent to now 70 percent.
