IOC donates US$1 million to tsunami victims

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will donate 1 million US dollars to aid victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami, the IOC made its announcement on its website on January 4.

The devastating tidal wave was triggered by an earthquake off Indonesia on December 26 and killed at least 150,000.

One million people have been swept homeless and at least five million are in urgent need of basic supply to survive.
