Charity performances to be held for tsunami victims
font size

Two large scale charity performances will be put on in Beijing respectively on Jan. 6 and Jan. 9 to raise relief fundings for tsunami victims in South Asia.

One performance will be co-sponsored by Chinese Central Television (CCTV) and a provisional committee comprising 12 volunteers of Chinese entertainment stars while the other by the Chinese Red Cross Society.

All the incomes from the performances will be sent to the tsunami victims by the Chinese Red Cross Society, according to sources with the volunteers committee.

After that, some mainland singers will join Hong Kong entertainment stars in another big charity performance there for tsunami victims.

Besides the donation phone number of the Chinese Red Cross Society, the organizing committee has opened the fund-raising offices and publicized the special telephone number for donors.

None-governmental organizations and institutions in Chinese cities have scheduled charity activities to raise money for the tsunami victims, while individuals continued to chip in to express their sympathy.
