China to send observers for Palestinian election
font size

China will send a 6-member observation group, led by former Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Yao Kuangyi, for the upcoming Palestinian presidential election on Jan. 9, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing on January 5.

Making the remarks at a regular press conference, Kong said China hopes the election goes smoothly and is willing to provide assistance if necessary.

"All parties of the Middle East issue are making unremitting efforts for the resumption of peace talks, and the situation has shown signs of easing," Kong said.
