UN chief arrives in Indonesia's tsunami-hit Aceh

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan arrived in Indonesian Aceh province on Friday for a tour to the hardest tsunami-hit Maulaboh district in the province.

Annan touched down at 9:45 (local time) in the capital of Aceh Province, Banda Aceh.After his arrival at the airport, he went straight to the airport terminal, where he was greeted by Indonesian Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Minister Alwi Shihab.

The UN secretary general is to see destruction from tsunami in Maulaboh district and then the devastated city of Banda Aceh.

Last Sunday's catastrophe killed at least 146,000 people along the Indian Ocean, more than a half in Indonesia.
