Japanese Defense Agency Director General Yoshinori Ono will fly to Seoul next week for a two-day visit here, discussing Tokyo's newly revised defense guidelines with his South Korean counterpart, announced South Korean Ministry of National Defense in Seoul on Friday.
The two day visit by Ono, which is to be started from next Wednesday, is the routine military exchanges between the two Northeast Asian countries, the ministry said in a statement.
Ono is scheduled to hold meeting with South Korean Defense Minister Yoon Kwang-ung and to inspect military facilities, the statement said.
The recent Japan's revision of its defense guidelines will top the agenda of the two defense chiefs' meeting.
"Our position is that we will demand Japan seek its defense policy in a transparent manner not to trigger distrust and concerns among neighboring countries," the statement said.
Nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsular is another topic of their meeting, the statement added.
The defense chiefs will also discuss ways to promote bilateral military cooperation and exchanges, the statement said.
Before visiting Seoul, the Japanese defense chief will visit Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, it said.
