A fund-raising show gathering some 200 singers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan raised around 32 million HK dollars (4.1 million US dollars) by 11 o'clock Friday night for the tsunami-hit areas.

The 7-hour event, named Crossing Borders Fund Raising Show, had attracted around tens of thousands of viewers to the Hong Kong Stadium. Viewers entered the stadium free of charge, and made donations to the fund-raising boxes set up around the stadium. Others donated their money through telephones or the Internet.

Initiated by Hong Kong film stars Eric Tsang and Jacky Chan, the event drew overwhelm response. Hong Kong's Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa and American tennis star Serena Williams also attended the show.

Fund raised during the event will be sent to five international charity organizations including the United Nations Children's Fund, Oxfam Salvation Army, Red Cross and World Vision.
