font size

Palestinian National Authority(PNA) Chairman-elect Mahmoud Abbas said Monday he was eager to resume peace talks with Israel one day after he won a landslide victory in the election.

"We offer the hand of peace to our neighbor (Israel) and we hope that the response will be positive," Abbas said during a reception for international observers who monitored Sunday's election."

The election is only the beginning, not the end. We have a program full of things to do in order to achieve peace."

According to preliminary results, Abbas won 62.3 percent of the vote in the election.
