A reception was held in Beijing on January 10 to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ecuador.

Li Xiaolin, vice-president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said that China and Ecuador have enjoyed smooth development of bilateral ties since they forged diplomatic ties 25 years ago.

The high-level exchanges between the two countries have kept on increase and bilateral trade and economic cooperation have been continuously expanded, she said.

Li said along with the smooth development of bilateral ties, the two countries' non-governmental exchanges have progressed well. Since its founding in 1988, the Ecuador-China Friendship Association has set up nine branches successively, and become an important force friendly towards China.

She believed with the joint efforts of the two sides, the Sino-Ecuadorian friendly cooperative links and the friendship between the two peoples will bear fruits.

Ecuadorian Ambassador to China Mario Rodrigo Yepez Enriquez said his country is willing to further the friendly relations with China, and expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.
