Chinese vice president to start five-nation tour

The Chinese Vice President, Zeng Qinghong, will pay an official visit to five Latin American and Caribbean nations from January 23 to February 3, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Tuesday.

Kong Quan told a regular press conference that Vice President Zeng will visit these countries at the invitation of the Government of the United States of Mexico, Vice President David Waisman Rjavinsthi of the Republic of Peru, Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel of the Bolivar Republic of Venezuela, Prime Minister Patrick Manning of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of Jamaica.

During his visits, Zeng will also attend the opening ceremony of the first Ministerial-level Meeting of the China-Caribbean Economy and Trade Cooperation Forum 2005 on February 2 in Kingston, capital of Jamaica.
