font size

Chinese Vice-Premier Hui Liangyu recently visited southwestern Yunnan Province, which was partly devastated by natural disasters including earthquakes, floods and mudflows.

During his stay in Yunnan, from January 5 to 10, the vice premier inspected some local villages and factories in Baoshan, Binchuan and Dehong areas, and spoke with local officials on issues like disaster relief effort and economic development.

He urged local people to rely on themselves and rebuild their homes with their own effort. And local governments at different levels should give priority to building up alarming systems for natural adversities, he said.

The official called for cherishing unity among people of different ethnic groups, safeguarding social stability and speeding up economic and social development in minority people-dominated areas, in order to push forward the buildup of a socialist harmonious society.
