Putin arrives in Alma-Ata for talks with Kazakh President

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Alma-Ata, capital of Kazakhstan, beginning his first trip abroad this year.

He is scheduled to have talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev about energy, border issues and other matters, Russian media reported.

A statement released Tuesday from the Kazakh Presidential Office said that the meeting will be held in the former Kazakh capital of Alma-Ata.
