A Chinese mainland official on Wednesday said it was not suitable for members of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) and members of the Mainland Affairs Council under the Executive Yuan of Taiwan to attend the cross-Straits negotiation on charter flight issues.
He Shizhong, an official with the Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council on Wednesday said at a routine press conference that unnecessary obstacles will crop up if Taiwan officials attend the charter flight negotiation held between the civil aviation organizations across the Taiwan Straits.
He said members of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and members of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) will not attend the charter flight negotiation either.
On the question that if the person in charge of the Taiwan civil aviation administration could attend the charter flight negotiation, He answered that "it is negotiable".
