A Japanese man is being sought by Chinese police after assaulting and injuring three workers at a Beijing hotel, a newspaper reported Monday.
The Beijing News said that the man assaulted the three workers at the Gloria Plaza Hotel as he was leaving a restaurant in the hotel.
The man had complained he was missing his coat with cash in it, and when a female worker told him that another person who was with him had taken the coat for him, he punched her, according to the paper.
In a telephone interview, a hotel worker confirmed that the incident took place, but declined to share details, saying that it was still under police investigation.
According to the paper, the Japanese man, about 170 centimeters tall and in his mid-40s, left the hotel shortly afterward.
