China unveils top 10 IPR violation cases in 2004The State Office of Intellectual Property Protection on Jan. 11, 2005 unveiled the top 10 cases concerning intellectual property rights (IPR) violation in 2004. The 10 cases are: The name infringement case of Guangzhou Estee Lauder Cosmetics Co Ltd.; The case of counterfeiting the registered trademark of "Louis Vuitton" by Shenzhen Wenhong Furniture Company and Honghui Leather Factory; The case of counterfeiting the registered trademark of American Cisco Technology Inc.(R) by a Dongguan-Shenzhen group in Guangdong Province; The case of counterfeiting the trademark of "Adidas" by a lair of evildoers in Songjiang District, Shanghai Municipality; The case of counterfeiting the registered trademark of "La Coste" by Yangzhou Su'e Garments Co., Ltd.in Jiangsu Province; The "September 26" extraordinarily serious infringement and pirate case in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province; The case of the transnational sales of infringing duplicates by the Guthrie criminal gang; The "July 15" extraordinarily serious pirated CD case in Liaoning Province; The case of illegally pirating Microsoft products by Beijing Zhongxinlian Company and Tianjin National CD Company; The patent safeguarding case of Yibin Siliya Company in Sichuan Province.Sources say, the State will further intensify the special campaign for the protection of intellectual property rights in 2005 and, in light of the newly published Explanation on some issues concerning concrete application of laws in handling the criminal cases of intellectual property rights infringement, strengthen the link between administrative law enforcement and criminal law enforcement for the protection of intellectual property rights, and further intensify crackdown on the criminal acts of infringing upon intellectual property rights.
