The British Foreign Office said Thursday that British Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia has been closed due to a specific bomb threat.
"In response to a specific bomb threat to the British Embassy, we have temporarily suspended services to the public with immediate effect in the British Embassy building and the British Consulate General offices in the next door Deutsche Bank Building," the Foreign Office said in its travel advice to Indonesia posted on its website.
"The closure will not have a detrimental effect on the relief operations in Aceh following the tsunami of Dec. 26," the ministry said.
The travel advice also said there remains a high threat from terrorism in Indonesia.
"We continue to receive reports that terrorists in Indonesiaare planning further attacks on Westerners and Western interests. Attacks could occur at any time, anywhere in Indonesia and are likely to be directed against locations frequented by foreigners,"it said.
