Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has appointed High Court judge Justice Faith Elizabeth Kalikwani Mwondha as the new inspector general of government (IGG), according to an official announcement in Kampala on Friday.
Raphael Obudra Baku, the deputy director of legal affairs at the ruling National Movement secretariat, was appointed as deputy IGG.
Mwondha and Baku replace Jotham Tumwesigye and David Psomgen, whose contracts expired in November 2004.
According to the 1995 Constitution, the IGG and the deputy IGG hold office for four years but are eligible for re-appointment once.
Justice Mwondha, 51, a High Court resident judge for Mbale, wasa member of the Uganda Human Rights Commission before her appointment to the judiciary in December 2002.
Baku, 47, was a member of the sixth Parliament where he represented Moyo West.
He was the principal assistant to the minister of state for defense between 1996 and 1999.
Meanwhile, in a cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, President Museveni appointed Ezra Suruma as minister of finance, planning and economic development to replace Gerald Sendaula, who was appointed as senior president advisor for financial affairs.
Kutesa Sam was appointed as minister of foreign affairs; Mukwaya Janat as minister of agriculture, animal industry and fisheries; Namirembe Bitamazire Geraldine as minister of educationand sports; Kiddu Makubuya as minister of justice, constitutional affairs and attorney general; Migereko Daudi as minister of trade,industry, tourism, wildlife and antiquities.
The previous cabinet adjustment was in June 2003.
