font size

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Monaco's head of state Prince Rainier III, exchanged greetings Saturday to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Hu said in a message that bilateral ties have witnessed steady development in the past decade with deeper political trust, broader economic and trade cooperation and fruitful cultural exchanges. The two countries also supported each other in international affairs, Hu said.

"China attaches importance to relations with Monaco," Hu said. "I am willing to work with Your Highness to further promote our cooperation and exchanges and advance the two countries' friendship to a new level."

Prince Rainier III said in his message that Monaco and China have enjoyed good relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations despite geographic distance and differences in national conditions.

He said he could foresee closer cooperation in economy, tourism and culture as the two countries understand each other even better.

China and the Principality of Monaco established diplomatic relations on Jan. 16, 1995.
