font size

Serbian teenager Ana Ivanovic defeated Melinda Czink of Hungary 7-5 and 6-1 to win the Canberra Classic tennis tournament for her first WTA title on Saturday.

Czink served for the first set at 5-4 before Ivanovic, a junior finalist at Wimbledon last year, broke back and won nine of the next 10 games to seal victory in 83 minutes.

"I was really nervous in the beginning," the 17-year-old Ivanovic said. "I somehow pulled through the first set and in the second set...I didn't do too much wrong."

"I'm very happy that I made the final but obviously I'm disappointed that I didn't win," Czink said.
