Japanese Onda wins women's single figure skating in Universiade

Figure skater Yoshie Onda of Japan won the gold medal of figure skating women's singles event at the Winter Universiade in Innsbruck, west Austria, Jan. 16, 2005.
Yoshie Onda of Japan won the gold medal of figure skating women's singles event at the Winter Universiade in Innsbruck on January 16.

The 24-year-old Onda, who ranked fifth at the 2004 world championship, was much better than other athletes on performance and technique and took the gold without any resistance.

Galyna Manyachenko of Ukraine took the silver medal and the bronze medal went to Chinese Liu Yan.
