Rice hails China's role in six-party talks
Condoleezza Rice, US Secretary of State-designee, said at her confirmation hearing on Tuesday that China has played an important role in the six-party talks aimed at solving the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The six-party talks is something that the United States is muchbetter off doing with South Korea, Japan, Russia and "most especially with China, which is playing an important role in the six-party talks and needs to continue to play an active role," Rice said.

China has hosted three rounds of the six-party talks in Beijing.

In her earlier testimony on Tuesday, Rice said that the United States is building "candid, cooperative and constructive" ties with China.

"We are building a candid, cooperative and constructive relationship with China that embraces our common interests but still recognizes our considerable differences about values," she said.
