India and China, which have so many similarities, should strengthen friendly cooperation vital to each other's development, Indian President Abdul Kalam said on January 18.
The president made these remarks while receiving the credential presented by new Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Yuxi in the capital city on Tuesday.
Stressing the role of personnel exchange in promoting bilateral ties, Kalam noted that it is necessary to have more exchange of students, teachers, scholars and scientists between the two countries, thus to promote the all-round development of bilateral relations.
The president asked Sun to convey his cordial greetings to Chinese President Hu Jintao.
The Chinese ambassador, who arrived here on Jan. 12, conveyed the cordial greetings of Hu Jintao to Kalam and the good wishes of the Chinese government and people to the Indian government and people as well.
China and India will bring benefit to not only the people of the two countries, and Asia and even the world as well if they develop cooperation of mutual benefit, Sun said.
He stressed that he will try his utmost to expand and deepen the good relations of neighborhood and cooperation of mutual benefit between the two countries, promote the understanding and friendship between the two governments and peoples so as to push Sino-Indian ties to a new height.
