Second edition of the Afro-Asian Games will be held in Algerian capital Algiers in 2007, an official of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) told reporters after his counterparts in India on Tuesday.
A meeting between ANOCA and Indian Olympic Association officials has decided to stage the game in Algiers a week after the ninth All Africa Games planned for September, 2007, according to ANOCA treasurer-general, Alhadji Dandeh-Njie.
"Holding this games will help us get self-sufficient in stagingmajor events in Africa in the future," he said.
The inaugural Afro-Asian Games were held in October 2003 in thesouthern Indian city of Hyderabad.
Sports expected at the Algiers games include athletics, soccer,swimming, boxing, shooting and handball, plus two disciplines yet to be chosen.
