The service sector will account for about 80 percent of the labor demand in Beijing in 2005, said a senior official with the city's Labor and Social Security Bureau.
"In tertiary industries, the business and catering sectors will keep a high demand of workers with further development of social service," said Li Jin, deputy director of the bureau's information department, on Tuesday.
Li said the manufacturing and hi-tech sectors will become the main labor absorbers in secondary industries.
Primary industries, including agriculture, forestry and husbandry, will occupy a small percentage of labor demand, but will see some rise, Li added.
