Argentine Vice-President Daniel Scioli said on Wednesday in Buenos Aires that his country hopes to further enhance friendship and cooperation with China in various fields.
During his meeting with Li Tieying, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, Scioli described Argentine-China relations as at their "best stage."
With the exchange of top leaders' visits, the establishment of strategic partnership and the signing of a series of cooperation accords, friendship and cooperation between the two countries have made further progress in 2004, Scioli said.
Scioli said his country wants to further promote all-around cooperation with China and to learn from China's economic development. He also voiced support for the one China policy.
Li, for his part, said that with the exchange of visits by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner and the establishment of strategic partnership in 2004, Sino-Argentine relations have entered a new phase.
The Chinese government appreciates Argentina's adherence to the one China policy, Li said, stressing that "one country, two systems" and "peaceful reunification" have been consistent policies of the Chinese government over Taiwan, and the Chinese government will never tolerate any separatist attempts by a few separatists.
Li, heading an NPC delegation, arrived in Buenos Aires Tuesday for a goodwill visit at the invitation of the Argentine parliament. The delegation will also visit Uruguay and Brazil.
