Germany to push for lifting of EU arms embargo on China: Schroeder
font size

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said here Friday that his government would continue to work for an early end of the European Union's arms embargo on China.

He made the promise in a meeting with a delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by Wang Jiarui, head of the party's International Department.

Schroeder said Germany would also push for EU's recognition of China's status as a full market economy.

He said both countries are committed to building a partnership with global responsibility within the framework of the Sino-EU all-around strategic partnership.

Schroeder stressed the German government will, as always, stick to the one-China policy and support China's reunification.

The CPC delegation arrived in Berlin on Thursday at the invitation of Germany's Social Democratic Party.
