French President Jacques Chirac is to attend the annual World Economic Forum of political and economic leaders at the Swiss resort of Davos on Wednesday to present France's proposals on financing the development, French presidency announced Friday.
The forum will last from Jan. 26 to 30, grouping 2,250 participants from 96 countries, in the purpose to make the world a better, safer place by political and economic sessions.
"With the New York summit in September and the Group of 8 world's most industrialized countries (G8) under British presidency, to which France brings its support, 2005 is the year of development.
We have to make capital decisions," Chirac's spokesman Jerome Bonnafont said.
"(Chirac) will join Davos World Economic Forum on Jan. 26," he said, adding that Chirac will present there France's proposals on financing the development.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair, current rotating president of G8, will open Wednesday the forum, to which will also participate Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, new Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko along with representatives from Brazil, Nigeria and South Africa.
