Hong Kong SAR Financial Secretary Henry Tang will pay a six-day duty visit to Japan and the Republic of Korea from Jan. 28, a government press release said in Hong Kong Wednesday.

Tokyo will be the first stop and Tang will officiate at a reception organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office to celebrate Hong Kong-Japan Year 2005.

During his stay in Japan, Tang will call on Japan's Minister of Finance Sadakazu Tanigaki and meet Japan Business Federation Chairman Hiroshi Okuda, and other business and finance chiefs. He will also speak at a luncheon for policymakers and senior management of the financial services sector, it said.

Heading to Seoul on Jan. 31, Tang will call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Lee Hun-jae, and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Lee Hee-beom.

On Feb. 2, Tang will speak at a breakfast meeting to be hosted by the Seoul Financial Forum before returning to Hong Kong.
