Chinese women's interim coach Wang Haiming has been cast a vote of confidence by his foreign counterparts when he is leading the Steel Roses to compete in the Four-Nation soccer tournament in Quanzhou, south China��s Fujian Province.
Wang is now the caretaker of the newly-constructed Chinese senior team after he led the junior side to a best-ever runners-up finish at last year's FIFA U-19 World Championship in Thailand.
Wang, appearing to be the favorite for the head coach post after his achievement in Thailand but the Chinese Football Association seemed to lean more toward the choice of a foreign coach, namely former U.S. coach Tony DiCicco, who brought the U.S. women's team to the Atlanta Olympics and 1999 world championships.
But Australian coach Tom Sermanni showed his confidence in his Chinese colleague.
"China has always been among the top teams in the world and Wang as a local coach is capable of doing the job," said Australian head coach Tom Sermanni.
German coach Thenne Meyer agreed.
"Wang did a very good job and it is good China have a Chinese coach," she said.
But Wang said he would paying more attention to current his job than thinking about his title.
"It doesn't that matter that what title I have. What I care is whether I can do my job well," said Wang.
