Efforts should be made to further enhance exchanges and deepen cooperation between China and Venezuela, said visiting Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong in Caracas on Friday.
At a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Jose Vicente Rangel, Zeng said China and Venezuela should work together to enhance communication, maintain exchange of high-level visits and deepen mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation.
Sino-Venezuelan relations are developing at a fast pace and the two sides forged a strategic partnership of common development in 2001, Zeng noted.
He said his visit is aimed to further friendship, strengthen mutual trust, deepen cooperation and seek common development.
Efforts should be made to implement as soon as possible the consensus reached by the two sides, he said, adding that China and Venezuela should have closer cooperation in multilateral issues and work together to safeguard the legitimate rights of developing countries.
Rangel said Venezuela is China's friend and its people are in favor of developing friendly cooperation with China. Venezuela will continue to boost exchanges and cooperation with China at all levels and in various sectors, he said.
He said Venezuela will firmly stick to the "one China" policy and support China's stance on the Taiwan issue. Zeng said he appreciated the pledge.
Venezuela is the third leg of Zeng's five-nation tour in Latin America and the Caribbean. He had just wound up his visit to Mexico and Peru.
Zeng will also travel to Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica, where he will attend the opening of the first ministerial meeting of the China-Caribbean Economy and Trade Cooperation Forum next week.
