Liu Xiang aims at Golden League, world championships
font size

China's Olympic champion athlete Liu Xiang will try to win his races in this year's Golden League and the world championships, a leading Chinese athletics official said in Beijing on January 29.

"Liu's targets will be victories in both world championships and the Golden League," Feng Shuyong, deputy director of the Chinese Athletics Administrative Center, told reporters at a weekend press briefing.

Liu, winner of the Olympic men's 100 meters hurdles race in last summer's Athens games, has set his sight at races at the League and championships, Feng said.

"The marathon program poses a great challenge to Liu, who has, thus, to skip some races in Europe," he said.

Liu has just finished winter training in a camp in Shanghai suburb and is now taking recovery sessions there, with his coach Sun Haiping, as part of his preparations for the national indoor championships starting on February 19 in Shanghai, Feng said.

"Liu is in a good shape now," the official added.
