China, Namibia to further judiciary cooperation

China would like to push forward cooperation with Namibia and other countries in the judiciary field to contribute to world peace, stability and development, said a Chinese leader in Beijing Friday.

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks in a meeting with Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, attorney-general of Namibia.

Luo said China is in the key period of reforming its judiciary system and should learn from the other countries in this regard.

He noted China and Namibia have enjoyed long-term friendship, and the two countries have increased political, economic and judiciary cooperation since they forged diplomatic ties. The enhancement of the Sino-Namibian relations is in the common aspiration of the two peoples and benefits world peace and prosperity, he said.

Luo expressed gratitude for the support of the Namibian government on the human rights and Taiwan issues, saying China will further the cooperation and relationship with Namibia.

Iivula-Ithana said she is paying the visit to China to push forward the judiciary cooperation between the two countries, especially to promote personnel exchanges and to learn from each other's judicial systems.

China, Namibia sign agreement on procuratorate cooperation

China and Namibia signed an agreement in Beijing on January 28 promoting judiciary and procuratorate cooperation.

Jia Chunwang, procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, attorney-general of Namibia, signed the agreement.

Jia met with Iivula-Ithana before the signing ceremony.
